Our Founder
 
Steve Lawrence has been an entrepreneur, a small business owner and a corporate executive each multiple times during his career. He is well versed in all aspects of employee benefits including fully insured and self funded arrangements, HR and tax regulations, the insurance needs of those without employer based insurance and for those eligible for Medicare. Having been one himself he is keenly aware of the employers' need for administrative relief.

He entered the insurance industry in 1985 with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida. He was President of American Dental Plan of Tennessee (now part of Humana) when he recognized the consumers need for unbiased and expert guidance when it came to insurance. As a result he entered the brokerage and consulting side of the industry in 1995.

Not one to turn his back on a problem, needs among small to mid sized employer clients drew him into offering more and more benefit administration services and HR guidance. He pieced together solutions for them but recognized the need for an affordable, comprehensive service platform with a single data entry port to manage payroll processing, benefits administration and employee records.

In March 2008, he sold his partnership interest in Shaw, Lawrence and Associates and founded Maxum Benefits Group. In addition to insurance solutions, Maxum Benefits Group fulfills his vision of offering affordable guidance and expertise as well as administrative relief in managing Human Resources. The key differentiation is a single service platform that processes payroll, administers benefits and manages employee records.

He brings all of this experience together to lead Maxum Benefits Group in finding the most cost effective solutions to each client's specific needs while striving to deliver extraordinary value in every aspect of the client's experience with the firm.
